Can't add Sony account to tv

Hey guys. Bit of a strange one.

Recently upgraded to the kd-55xd903. In settings I've gone down to the bottom

and selected add account. I want to add my Sony account but when I select "Sony entertainment network" I'm presented with a screen that says I need to perform an update to use this application. I then select update but the TV instantly takes me to the google sign in page.

Do I have to create a google account to sign in. Just to update the app so I can sign in

with my Sony account?

I have checked for latest firmwares and app updates but everything is up to date.

Many ideas?

Isn't this Sony account thing only working in the U.S.?

This feature is valid and working also in Europe (at least in Italy) and it is needed only if you want to access to the Sony video store (Playstation video). In order to use any other Android TV feature instead (if you didn't do it in the initial setup) you must have a google account... Android is a Google product after all
